Brittany Gilchrist, MA, LPC, CEDS-S

Brittany Gilchrist, a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Eating Disorders Specialist, has worked for several years as a counseling professional, primarily at eating disorders facilities serving adolescents and adults in Intensive Outpatient and Partial Hospitalization levels of care. She holds her CEDS (Certified Eating Disorders Specialist) through the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals. She also serves on the Committee Board for Houston Eating Disorders Specialists.

 

Brittany’s specialties include working with individuals who are struggling with eating disorders, body image, anxiety, depression, perfectionism, social/relational issues, life transitions, and identity development. 

 

Brittany is dedicated to promoting awareness and collaboration in the field between clients, their families, and their providers. Her dedication to this goal has been demonstrated through presentations she has given on mindfulness, eating disorders, body image, parent/family involvement, shame, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

 

In addition to her Master’s Degree work and clinical experience, Brittany has received hundreds of hours of continuing education on various treatment modalities for managing eating disorders, anxiety, depression, and self-care. 

 

Brittany has extensive Master’s Degree-level training in Biblical Counseling. Christian Counseling provided at client request. 

 

Into the care provided, Brittany integrates evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Family-Based Therapy.

 

Brittany integrates experiential treatment outlets such as mindfulness work, art, and yoga therapies.  Regardless of the specific approach, acceptance, collaboration, and compassion are at the center of Brittany’s work with clients, families, and treatment providers.
